I'm in the process of changing AI's. If you were to give up on Aromasin which pill would you go to next?

Thank you.

    pabbie,

It's such an individual matter, in terms of hiw one experiences se's or not. I was on Arimidex for two years and my se's kept getting worse. I switched to Femara and have been on it for about four years. I still have some se's but I can deal with them. Wishing you the best

I was worried that anastrazole was not working for me, because I only got stiffness and very minor pains from it, while others are almost immobilized --- but I got a blood test for estradiol and the level is almost zero, like it should be. Have tried letrozole but had to restart anastrozole, because letrozolegave me fevers and bad joint pain and swelling; others get no SEs. So yes how your body reacts to a particular AI is very individual. Luckily there are three of them to choose from. Hope you find one that your body can tolerate well.

I started anastrozole 2 months ago and have been fine (so far). I've read that some people are sensitive to the fillers used in differentt generic versions of the drug (generics are make by different manufacturers like Teva and Accord). Some people feel that they have difficult side effects with generics but are ok with the brand name Arimidex. It really seems that you have to try to see what works for you.

If you look at Forum: Hormonal Therapy - Before, During and After, there's a discussion of this on "For Arimidex (Anastrozole) users, new, past, and ongoing". Also people with positive experiences on AIs share thoughts on "Doing Well on Aromotase Inhibitors (AIs)".

I've been taking a generic (because that's what my insurance covers), and my side effects (some warm flashes, some stiffness) are very manageable.

    Good luck.
