Hello, I'm looking for advice on what to do next. I'm a 28 year old female that has had a lump in my right breast on the side that shrinks and grows throughout the month. It started out being only painful around my period, but now it has gotten to be painful throughout the month but still with the heightened peak of pain one week out from my cycle.

I have had 2 mammograms and 2 ultrasounds done. The first in October of last year, the second set today. Both sets they could not see any cysts or lumps but concluded I had extremely dense tissue (you can only see white on my mammograms) and they believe that the lump I am feeling is just a "valley" of dense tissue.

However, this does not help with the pain I am feeling constantly. Any advice? Anyone else have a similar situation and find relief or answers?

I recently went through the same thing. They were unable to see anything on the mammogram or the ultrasound, but were able to feel a pretty good sized lump. My OBGYN referred me to a surgeon for a second option. I was given the option to wait a few months and watch it closely or have it removed and biopsied. It had already been several months since I first found it, so I opted for surgery to remove it. They were unable to do a needle biopsy because they couldn't see the lump on mammogram or ultrasound. I had surgery last Thursday. He removed two large lumps and found several smaller ones that he left alone. He didn't want to remove any extra tissue if everything was ok. I went for my appointment today and got my B9 results!!!! They are just cyst. I hope this helps :)

Siedawnish, there are a good thread that might be helpful to you. First this thread goes through common causes of breast pain, once you've had imaging to rule out anything nefarious: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/83/topics/857903?page=1#idx_5 further down, DJMammo gives the sensitivity of specific imaging types. Was your mammo digital or 3D? 3D is better for dense tissue.
