    Hi,

I've been taking Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) since December 19, 2016 and I have recently experienced itchy skin especially when I take my work clothes off and change to my sleepwear. I noticed this around April this year so I was wondering if this is a delayed manifestation of a side effect of Tamoxifen because I am not taking any other medications at all. Also, I noticed that my palms have become yellowish. Has anyone of you experienced the same? If you did, how did you manage to ease these effects?

Hi, and welcome to the BCO community. Yes, itching can be an allergic reaction (side effect) to Tamoxifen. You may want to read here for some tips, and probably a good idea to discuss with your doctor. Itching as side effect

    Hang in there!

    Hi charmedjewel:

Re your comment: "Also, I noticed that my palms have become yellowish."

While other explanations may explain this, please note that the patient medication guide in the FDA labeling for Tamoxifen (NOLVADEX) indicates:

"Less common but serious side effects of NOLVADEX are listed below. These can occur at any time. Call your doctor right away if you have any signs of side effects listed below . . .

    • Liver problems, including jaundice. The signs of liver problems include lack of appetite and yellowing of your skin or whites of your eyes."

Occasionally, Tamoxifen causes elevations in liver enzymes, and more rarely, certain liver abnormalities such as fatty liver.

Please contact your doctor to report the itching and yellowing palms, and request an evaluation in light of the above.
