Hey guys,

I am full of bad luck and have come across something else now. Have been healing VERY well since the mastectomy, however since my right drain came out 3 weeks ago i developed a massive hard lump on my breast. It is severely bruised. I had an ultrasound last week and got told it looks like a Haematoma. Unfortunately i cannot start getting my TE expanded until the Haematoma is resolved. I am due for another ultrasound tomorrow to see if it has shrunk over the past week. In my opinion through sight, It has not grown but i believe it has not shrunk. This is freaking me out. My surgeon has told me she will drain it, however i do not understand how that is possible if the blood is HARD and not fluid.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Would also like to mention that it is a HUGE Haematoma that is literally covering my entire right breastthe size of my right breast (6cm). Im wondering when all of this struggle will end and i can move on!!!

Sorry you're having so many issues Chloe! I got a pretty big hematoma from my initial lx. They told me it would be reabsorbed, but it hadn't really resolved a few months later when I eventually had a mx. They got most of it with the mx, but I still (14 years later) still have a small stripe of discolored skin that showed the outer margins of where it used to be. Mine was pretty good sized and right on the top of my boob, at aprox. 1 or 2 o'clock. I don't think I'm typical, as I was told it should take up to a couple of months to resolve. Did you ask your doctor if he/she could make recommendations for what you can do to help it resolve more quickly?

some good news! Came back from my ultrasound and the haematoma has shrunk! Almost half the size it originally was!!! The radiologist says he thinks it's best we leave it and let my body resolve it rather than drain it. Unfortunately that does mean I probably won't get my TE expanded for another month. Still good news & im staying positive!! Hoping everything else will slowly get solved!!! :)
