New diagnosis
I'm sitting here waiting to get my port placed...
Yes that new...diagnosed July 23 17
ER+PR + HER2amplified. Haven't been to oncologist for first real appt other than biopsy reading and diagnosis but we have decided chemo first then surgery. I'm scared to death worried about everything but found this site and it's proving helpful. I now know what ? To ask and a spark of hope.
I can't believe how expensive this treatment will be even with insurance and worry for you who don't have it...then I kick myself for fussing over financial stuff when there's so much more to be worried about.
So it's more questions than answers right now but thanks for listening
Becky

Becky,
I was in your shoes this past Jan. Mine is ER PR+ her2-. Yes it is scary and upsetting especially early stage. It is important to reduce crying episodes.
port will wake you up either tonight or tomorrow early morning due to pain. Please ice and tylenol for the next few day.
I worried about how to pay for it. My word of wisdoms are you hace to be alive to worry about money and tell bill collector "I will pay what I could after my treatments are over" That was my line for about 5 months. I have 25 month intrerest free arrangement on $6000.00. I am paying $25 per month int free no fixed duration on $1000.00
Please be kind to yourself and the survival is for you.

Beckster, I respectfully disagree with Rebamacfan about crying. It isn't "important" to reduce crying episodes. There's no correlation between crying and your risk of recurrence or response to treatment. We all need to grieve about our diagnosis in different ways and in different times. Cry when you feel like it, just don't get stuck there. Sometimes letting yourself get your strong emotions out lets you refocus the rational part of your rational; which you will need to take in and process all the information that will be coming at you and then make decisions about your treatment. You can do this. It is a steep learning curve, but there's so many of us who've taken this journey and we're here to help you think of questions to ask your team and share our experiences and knowledge. Sending you warm thoughts and gentle ((hugs))

Hang in there Beckster! I am so grateful for my arm port. Everytime I go into the oncologist (weekly!) the nurses can access it quickly and painlessly. I haven't had a needle poke since my port surgery. Take this one step at a time and be gentle with yourself!
Hugs from Colorado!

Becker, if you need financial assistance, reach out to the social worker at your medical facility. They have resources that you may qualify for. I hope your treatments go well. I have to agree with MTW: it's okay to cry...it will help you get through it. Just don't stay at your pity party too long:). ((HUGS))

I'm confused - is this a first time DX or a recurrance ("New Diagnosis")?
If you'd fill out your Profile that would help with replies.
