Dexamethasone/steroids and acne?

I haven't seen a thread about this, but I got terrible acne the day I went off the dexamethasone, 2days after my first infusion. I don't normally have issues with acne. These were big, painful, white-headed monsters, in my t-zone, on my neck and on my chest. They are starting to go away now, but I'd like to avoid this side effect for future infusions. There are enough other things going on that are unpretty.

Has this happened to others? I hear a lot about people's skin getting dry, but not this. I'm wondering if anyone does chemo without steroids or a lower dose of steroids. And maybe I'm imagining that steroids are the issue

I got acne after my first docetaxol but it's never come back. My SEs have been pretty mild overall but found that my body did some weird adjustments after the first FEC and first docetaxol and things were better after subsequent rounds. I have taken dexamethasobe as a pre and post med throughout.

Acne is a known potential side effect of steroids.

I know that, I was just surprised I wasn't hearing a lot about it from other people here, wondering if it had a worse effect on me than on the usual person

I got acne too and several different nurses all refer to it as a side effect of steroids. Mine didn't pop up for days but luckily (or not) my dog scratched me and it turned into a staff infection so they put me on Bactrim DS. The antibiotic did nothing for the infection but my acne cleared up and hasn't come back. I managed to have a separate issue that required that I take another antibiotic (keflex), which took care of the scratch and the other problem. Don't know if that helps, but I was happy when the acne went away pronto.
