I just finished up 35 Rads and was wondering how long should I wait to have surgery to even the girls up?

I have decided I would like to get the non affected breast reduced to match the affected breast which is now considerably smaller.

Thanks for your help

I was told at least 6 months, as the breast keeps on changing. It is better not to hurry with it. results can vary quite a lot for different women:

I finished my radiotherapy at the end of January and will have the surgery at the end of August. I am quite lucky, I do not have a lot of fibrosis, just a bit directly under the scar and the breast has not moved up on my chest at all. A fellow BC patient who underwent radiotherapy at the same time as I, has to wait for at least a year, as she has severe edema and fibrosis. The breast is so tight that if it does not get any better she will have to have an implant in the other breast to make them match. She looks as if she's had a proper breast augmentation on one side.

Hi - my PS says 6 months and my radiologist swears 9 months. PS says there have been no directed studies on this topic!

My PS said wait at least 6 months. I healed well and did well through radiation. I just had my reconstruction done and there was a good deal of scar tissue. Now I am in the wait and see stage. I do think I will probably have to have one more surgery to fill in dimples, and adjust things so there is better symmetry. Although I must admitt, it is all very close.
