Radiation and hot flashes?

Hi, everyone!

I was diagnosed with BC in May, lumpectomy in June and started radiation yesterday (7/31).

My treatments are at 1:30pm and at 8pm I had a low grade fever of 99.7. I brought it down by drinking water... ok back to my 97.8. All good.

Then, I went to bed and my goodness I couldn't get comfortable because my entire upper body was on fire. I was so hot. My face would turn red - I'd check my temp - normal and I'd go back to bed. Then I'd toss and turn because of the heat. Now, I'm 45... but the odds of me getting my first ever menopause symptom on my first day of radiation seems odd...to me. I'm extremely fair and have always reacted to surgeries with flush face. The oncology nurse said it's no way connected to radiation. Anyone else have this?

I never heard of it with radiation, but I had those symptoms with Chemo after N shot. I always keep an air conditioning on at night as well as have a fan run on me. That does help keep my body cool.

I'm on my 6th treatment and am constantly hot - like sweating and flush-faced grossness. In addition, I'm having trouble sleeping at night because I'm so hot and now have a fan blowing on me as much as possible. I am 43 and have never had a problem like this before so I'm attributing it to the rads.

ok... that makes me feel better, Glossgirl! I talked to my RO today and her nurse. I asked the nurse if maybe it was menopause and she asked me a ton of questions and said she didn't think so... we decided it was a reaction to my skincare... I left satisfied with that, but now? I'm sitting here flushed and hot again. Day 3 of radiation and night 3 of being hot, hot, hot. Ugh!!

thank you Shellsat thebeach.. ive been doing the AC at night also... last night I was ok after I went to bed and I was ok all day, but tonight it came back. So I was happy when I thought it was my skincare... now I'm not sure. I will say it's no way near as intense as the first night. Holy!

I have already been through menopause at 45, I had a lumpectomy August 25th and I'm having horrible hot flashes and only had 5 treatments so far.
