Can I start radiation with a hematoma?

Hello everyone,

I posted in Lumpectomy Lounge but haven't gotten any replies so I'm trying this forum. I have a huge hematoma after my lumpectomy on June 22, and my RO is telling me that he can't start radiation until it is gone. After a month, my breast is still aching and is now bright red where (I guess) the hematoma is still pooling up. I haven't ever been drained, haven't see the surgeon since the post op visit. They put me in an ace bandage and said I was fine. When I called with concerns a week after that, they just said to use warm compresses. Now this. I really want to get started with my radiation - has anyone else had an experience with the RO refusing to start treatment and wanting you to go back to your surgeon?
