Architectural Distortion is what the radiologist said he found on my call back mammogram/sonogram this week. This is my third call back within the last eight years, first 3-D screening mammogram. I'm 56 years old. I was hoping for good news as in the previous years but when I was told I had to speak to the radiologist I knew they had found something. I didn't research the term until just a bit ago and the articles I read stated that architectural distortion is the third most common way that early breast cancer represents itself. I have a biopsy scheduled for next Tuesday so I'm trying not to stress myself too much until then. I'm glad I found this community forum to be able to share my concerns. Thanks

Did you have an ultrasound that day and if so do you have the report? A description of what they found would help us help you.

I did have an ultrasound as well that day. I was not given a report and didn't think to ask for one. I'm new to all of this and my head was spinning from all the information. I was told the area was .5cm in size with tiny calcifications along with it. I'll request a report on Monday. My biopsy is on Tuesday. Thanks for the info. I'll remember to ask for copies of everything along the way.

It can be a very dizzying experience. We sometimes forget this as we do this / see this every day, some of us for many many years.

As long as it was seen on US, the biopsy can be guided by US. 5mm is nice and small if it turns out to be something bad.

Copies of reports and imaging are made available free for the asking at most facilities.
