I'm not even certain where to start. I had my 2nd diagnosis of different breast 4 years ago and 12 years from my 1st diagnosis. I opted for a mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction. My drain tubes basically fell out after 10 days, followed by a severe infection 2 weeks later. My surgeons office refused to allow me to see him. I was hospitalised for 4 days on intravenous antibiotics and saw my surgeon on my 5th day. He did in fact concur by sight that I did have an infection and sent me to the wound clinic. I say by sight because my Breast was so swollen an infected that even the slightest touch sent me into convulsions (term used only as a descriptive).

After 2 weeks of intense antibiotics the implant was breached by secondary intention. Copious amounts of blue liquid, methylene blue, spewed from 5th implant. Four days later when the implant was removed it was found that the expander had been completely dissolved. After 4 more weeks of antibiotics I got C difficile.

Four year later I am dealing with such painfully debilitiating nerve damage that I spend between 80 to 90% of my time bedridden, despite wearing a fentanyl patch and taking oxycodone for breakthrough pain. Has anyone experienced this type of nerve pain? My pain specialist is literallaly at a loss as to where to proceed as the nerves do not respond to nerve blocks nor to spinal cord stimulation. My pain specialist said that in his 35 years of practicing he had never had a patient with breast nerve pain from an infection.
