Your side effects from Fosamax?

Hi all!

I started Fosamax mid February after my DEXA showed considerable bone loss after less than two years on Arimidex. I've been having some side effects and am trying to decide if they are from the Fosamax.

In the beginning I was having heart burn really bad. I increased my water intake from 8 to 16 ounces, didn't eat or take any medication for one hour instead of thirty minutes. That seems to have subsided. Off and on I've had problems with feeling achy and my throat hurting when I swallow. These side effects seem to happen two days after I take my weekly dose and last for 24-36 hours. This week I felt really achy and ran a low grade fever for about 36 hours. I know these are possible side effects but they are listed as rare. It's possible I picked up some virus although I'm usually very healthy and didn't really go anywhere in the last week.

What side effects have you had??

I haven't had any issues with Fosmax for a lot of yrs.

Hi!

I just started Fosamax a month ago because a dexa scan revealed that I've slipped into full-blown osteoporosis after two years on Aromasin. I've been feeling some acid reflux when I go swimming; today, I took a Tums before I went swimming and I was fine. I will ask my oncologist this week about whether I should take Tums rather than another antacid, given my increasing number of prescription drugs.

Otherwise, I don't think I have any side effects. I do have hot flashes, but that's from the Aromasin and Zoladex I think.
