I am supposed to start 33 sessions of radiation this week, but my insurance denied the "better kind of" radiation I was going to have, now the doctor is trying to appeal for me. I have never heard about there are different kinds of radiation, I guess the "better kind of" radiation can avoid some damage to the heart.

I had surgery two months ago, I am concerned about the time frame between surgery and radiation (had chemo before surgery). I am on tamoxifen and monthly lupron now but skill worrying I don't have enough protection.

    Thanks!

Hello stephilosophy, between two surgeries, some delays for my mammaprint test, I had to wait two months between my first surgery, which is considered the main treatment surgery, and start of chemo (today!). I was quite stressed out over this too, but my Onco told me not to overthink too much as ERPR positive cancer tends to be a little more sleepy and slow growing. And I see that you had your chemo before your surgery, She also mentioned lupron does has its benefits too, and with tamoxifen, sounds like it's not too worrying.

Although I feel you should find out from your Doctor what is her/his comfort level with this, see if there is any major concerns and also work out an alternative plan, if necessary. I am obsessed with plans and options. I am constantly asking my Doctor what she would do if she was me. I think I drive her little bonkers with my bundles of questions, but she seems to find me amusing because I seem to know more than her average patient, thanks to everyone here! She said to me once, "I see you have been on the Internet again." when I walked in with a piece of paper filled with questions. Haha!

Meantime, don't fret too much. A good laugh always makes me feel better. Know it's not easy, especially having to deal with insurance. Hate having to worry about the idiosyncrasies of insurance companies sometimes. Urgh.
