Brachytherapy with breast implants

Options

hi ladies

Has anyone here had Brachytherapy with existing silicone implants? I'm asking because I'm not sure it could even be done and can't find the answers on the Internet

This is something I'm thinking about asking for when i start my therapy after my lumpectomy. Sure hope there's someone out there who could tell me they've had it and what the results were.

Peppopat, the BCO website itself indicates it is a possibility, although the information was published in 2008. Read here http://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/20081201

Only your doctors can tell you if you are eligible though--criteria like breast size, LX location, etc.. Best wishes! And let us know how you're doing.

I ended up not doing it because my insurance does not cover the Hospital and Dr that would be performing the procedure. I was the perfect candidate for it but too many hoops to jump thru. Scheduled for Lumpectomy Aug 11. After that. I don't know. BTW, doctors fairly certain my second time around is a new primary. So, my very conservative treatment from 2011 was a good call
