What treatment is Best for stage 2b?
My mom has stage 2b breast cancer with ER , PR positive but her HER2 was negative,, also had already done mastectomy in her right breast,, there were 9/12 positive lymphnodes and our oncologist told us that to have chemotheraphy for 8 months and radiation (adjuvant) but my mom was afraid of chemotheraphy?
is there someone who had the same and did'nt do chemotheraphy (like only use hormonal theraphy and radiation) ? Are you already cancer free?
Thank you in advance

Hi jaja!
First of all, we wanted to welcome you to Breastcancer.org, and tell you that while we're sorry for the reason that brings you here, we're glad you found us!
You know every cancer and every patient is different but, until you get advice and personal stories from other members here, you may want to check the following chart out, with the most common treatment options for a Stage II breast cancer.
We hope this helps! Wishing you and your mom the best.

Hi Jaja, how old is your mother and is she in good health otherwise? From the information that you posted it certainly looks like she would need chemo.
Best to you and your Mom.

Jaja, sorry you have to join us. It is a very supportive community though. I think because of the lymph node involvement chemo is going to be the best option. Unless there are other age or health related issues going on with your mom you will want to kill off all the cancer that remains.
Everyone is afraid of chemo so your mom is not alone. If is not fun but it is totally manageable for many people. The help of your doctors and all the suggestions on this site make it tolerable. You sound like a supportive daughter that is something she will need for sure.
There are great resources here. I know it's overwhelming but it sounds like your MO's treatment plan is pretty standard. Hugs

Thank you for your support... My mom already agreed to the treatment and I wish it would go well..

Hello My Fellow Fighters an Survivors,
Yesterday I found out that I have Stage 2B, Tripple Negative Breast Cancer. I am 50yrs old and from the Caribbean. I have already had a mastectomy in Sept 2017 of my left brest 19 nodes were removed (18negative , 1positive). The healing has been fine with no major problems. My suggested treatement is 12 weeks of Chemo (Taxol, Doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide) and 4cycles of radiation. I am terrified of chemo because of what it can do to the other organs. I am here for support and to find out what to expect during the chemo process. I was told the side effects by the doctors but I want to know from survivors and fighters like myself about this process, side effect and other treatments.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Hi Dark13. I am so sorry about your diagnosis and all you have been going through.
I have no personal experience with Chemotherapy. One of my friends has just finished up her Chemo treatment for Triple Negative Breast Cancer, and she was surprised at how tolerable that was for her. She had a port installed shortly before her Chemo started. She was administered some steroid in connection with her infusions, and she says it made her a bit tense and interfered with her sleeping for the next day or so. A couple of days after each infusion, she would feel a decline in her energy and feel not so good, then a couple of days later, feeling better, with her feeling of well-being steadily improving over the next days. She had diarrhea at times, and she had nausea at times, but there were effective remedies supplied to deal with those and any other side effects. My friend lives independently, and throughout the time of her Chemo treatment, she has been able to manage her household and care for her sick dog.
In the Caribbean climate, your hair will grow back rather quickly.
I understand you are at high risk for Lymphedema. Ask questions and carefully consider the best site for port placement for your case.

I think the most helpful responses would come from asking in the Chemotherapy discussions section. Doubtless there are other members who have had the same treatment as is recommended for your case.

We are pulling for you. You can do it! You can do whatever it takes.

@Icietla Thank you for taking the time to respond I really appreciate it. They did not mention any port to me I was told it will be thru an injection or IV it was so much to take in all at once. I will have to find out about that on my next visit. Really appreciate the support and hugs. Have a gr8 day and an awesome night.

How are you doing? I too have stage 2 triple neg this Thursday I will be on my 5th chemo. I have been doing ok so far. I do have a port for my iv chemo treatments that was surgicaly in put. I just experienced hand in foot syndrome in my hands it has been very painful. But I have been doing ok managing with the pain. Lots of ice and actually Benadryl seems to help and it is getting better, but I have chemo this Thursday so I hope it does not get worse. But, I start a whole new chemo. I stopped the other 2 I forget their names. But it was a clear one and the red one.
I have still been working in between chemo treatments so, I hope you are doing alright with yours. My tumor is smaller but doctor had wished it was gone by now. However, my doctor is going to be moving downtown Houston and I won't be driving downtown so I see a new dr next time.
So it will be interesting to see what she has to say. It will nice to have a 2nd opinon
I pray that your chemo is doing well for you.
Take care,
Ventureval
