Tamoxifen No side effects

Hi, I have been on tamoxifen for almost 2 years now and I have not had any side effects what so ever, no hot flashes and my periods are like clock work, I am 33 and I am starting to panic thinking that its not working, I live in Canada and I mentioned to my doctors about the CYP2D6 test and they had no idea what it was.... Just wondering if there is anyone out there around my age that has not been experienceing any side effects from this drug,

Hi there, consider that most who post here do so because they are having problems with something and are looking for answers. There are indeed thousands if not more women who are taking Tamoxifen that aren't having side effects, and so they don't post here because they're doing great. I hope that reassures you a little.

Side effects don't mean a drug is working, and no side effects don't mean it's NOT working, either. I did okay on Tamox, did horribly on Arimidex and switched drugs, and now am doing okay, at least much better on Aromasin (mostly). Finally, sometimes side effects take a long time to appear, if they are going to appear. You may wind up with them eventually, but let's hope not so you can finish the 5 or whatever years you'll be on the drug with flying colors!

If you want to pursue the test, you might print out some literature on it and take it to your physician, and see what they say. When you do that, you might consider sharing your concerns about the lack of side effects and see if your doc can reassure you about the effectiveness in spite of no side effects.
