How may of you have undergone reconstruction and been able to have immediate diep at the time of your first mastectomy?

I will see my surgeon on Friday but am expecting him to suggest a mastectomy and I want to see a plastcic surgeon and explore all my options. Thanks,

    Hi Nancy

    I live a couple of hours from Toronto Ontario and I am being treated at Princes Margaret Hospital.

    I met with a surgical oncologist and also with a plastic surgeon at a separate appointment. The plan for me was bilateral mastectomy and immediate DIEP reconstruction.

    I was told it would be a 10 hour operation and 4 day hospital stay.

    Mastectomy is on the back burner at the moment as I am now having chemo/radiation first.

    Diagnosed May 24, 2017

    Lumpectomy July 5, 2017.
