tank tops!
Because of scars from BMX and radiation, I'm looking for tank tops that covers up a little more than the average. I don't want it up to my collar bone, two inches below would be perfect. I don't mind a tank that's fairly form-fitted; looser ones actually aren't as good because of the potential to show more than I'd like. I'm wearing a bra with silicon prostheses and really don't want anything showing.
Any suggestions? My go-to summer outfit is a tank under a loose button-down shirt. I spent an hour in Kohls and got discouraged. LLBean is too loose and goes down too low. Lands End fits better but it's still a bit lower than I'd like. I don't really love to shop and the thought of hitting multiple stores for a basic like this is unappealing. Thank you!

I have worn tank tops from Target (cotton, with straps that are wide enough to cover bra straps and stretch enough to step in to and pull up) since my bmx almost six years ago. Love them

While I generally dislike walmart, I recently found several tank tops there for super cheap ($2.88 ea) and there higher on the neck line than usual, which is what I was looking for. I also found some similar to men's under shirt tanks in multiple colors and so so soft. I bought like 6, lol.

I get contemporary tanks from chicos, and wear them with a button shirt with a long tail. They are my go to outfit for work. You can look at their tanks online and avoid going to a store. They have stretch in them so they hold their shape pretty well. They don't bag out and stretch as cotton shirts do. I have thrown away a lot of tank tops because they bag out too much after an hour or two. Their scoop neck tank tops look interesting but I haven't tried them, just the contemporary tank style so far Just go to chicos.com and search for tank.

The Target cotton tanks don't get baggy ( partly modal/spandex))and they wash/ dry beautifully. I think their brand is Mossimo or maybe Merona and they're $8.00. Chico's are nice too, but a bit pricey, $18.99,for a public school teacher 😬

Some of the ones at Old Navy are cut pretty well, especially the more built up ones, and they are reasonably priced. In fact, they are about the only ones I really like. I wear one every day instead of a bra. I know what you mean though... Hope you find something that works for you.

I love JCPenney's Worthington Seamless Suitables - I have at least 2 in every color available. They're spandex and form-fitting, and work well by themselves or under other shirts. For me they cover all the scars I have on the top of my breasts, plus my port - they feel reasonably modest. They're typical price is $16 but they're always on sale, I seem to find them when they're half off.

Thank you; this is really helpful! I have Target and Old Navy nearby, so I know where to start, then can work up to Chicos or Penney online if need be.
I want to clarify that I did NOT spend an hour in Kohls looking at tank tops. I was waiting around while my son tried on Levis. So many Levis. But it did give me more time than I'd usually take to comb the women's section.

I have just discovered Athleta! They appear to be under the Old Navy, Banana Republic umbrella. there's one at our local mall, but I was perusing their website.Their gear is for athletes as the name sounds, but they also have yoga gear that has a higher neckline and bum coverage. The descriptions crack me up, because they mention "covering up the girls"...
FULL DISCLOSURE: I have not tried on any of their items yet, as I just found out about them and placed an order. I ordered from their 60% off sales and should receive them by early next week. I'll let you know about the fit.
I have also tried Target and Old Navy, and have to size down frorm my usual XL macys size to a L, and still have issues with the low neckline. Maybe it's me, but I feel like they stretch out overtime.

Duluth Trading No-Yank Tanks and sleeveless Long-Tail Tees are fairly modest (not revealing), and dirt cheap. I wear Chico’s (under blouses or jackets) for less casual occasions.
