How common are multiple fibroadenomas?

Hi all,

So I'm 21 years old and when I was 17, I found a movable, hard, smooth, marble-like lump in the lower left part of my right breast. I went to my general doctor and she ordered me to get a breast sonogram. They found a fibroadenoma (about 1.2 cm I think?) and so I have had it since, with it changing in size when my period starts and so on. Anyway, I did a self breast exam recently (before my period) and noticed another small, movable lump in the same right breast, but above my nipple. It doesnt feel as tender or smooth as the original one and it's smaller. I feel as though it's another fibroadenoma since it is movable, but I'm still anxious because cancer has always been a fear of mine, especially when my mom got diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer a year and a half ago. Of course I'm going to feel it again since I'm on my period now and it's almost over, and I know sometimes lumps disappear after. However, I have a feeling it won't disappear because it only seemed to get bigger since my period started.

My question is, is it common to have more than one fibroadenoma? I have an appointment with a new gyno in about two and half weeks, so of course I'm going to bring this up with her. I'm just really nervous that she's going to order a breast sono and it's gonna be something serious.

    Of course it is common.

Sam, it is helpful if you pick a thread and stick to it, and this isn't really a new subject or discussion-this post seems like you are starting all over again about the same things everyone has already answered your questions about. Please try to stop obsessing about your breasts until your appointment

Sam - I agree. Settle on one thread and we'll follow, but we can't keep answering the same questions in different places & we need to know the back story.

Good luck with your new GYN doc. As we said in your other threads, find something to keep your mind busy.
