Hi, I'm a week into a Stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma diagnosis that I am having trouble wrapping my brain around. Discovered on a routine mammogram and no lump no pain, nothing. But literally from the day that I heard the words "breast cancer" I have begun having this sensation of burning pain in the affected breast -- like a circle of fire (I swear in my mind's eye it looks like that circle on your cell phone while it's searching for something!!) I KNOW it's insane, what's there is .4 centimeters and this is flat out a product of my brain and imagination (and maybe my bruised heart dealing with all of this). But am I crazy, has this ever happened to anyone else? I keep thinking that since I know I am just making this up it will go away because I don't believe in it, but I'm worried that I'm just going to have this smoldering burning till they cut this thing out of me. Help, I'm feeling more nuts than I ever have in my entire life. Am I alone

thanks to all of you who answered this morning -- this is all so new and crazy and unexpected and your answers made me cry. And maybe calm this weird made up pain down and put the anxiety back into something I deal with head on rather than turn it into a made up physical pain. So my body quieted today though I cried more. Probably healthier overall. Thank you thank you just for being there

Crying is good. It releases stress. Waiting is horrible. Once you have a complete diagnosis and a treatment plan in place, it gets easier. Well, at least you have a direction so you can move forward.

Mine was found due to pain. February mammo didn't catch it. Physical exams by docs and ultrasounds didn't catch it. I had to point to it and ask them to look precisely there where the pain was. You're not crazy! Maybe the diagnosis is making you more aware/noticing or anxious about it though. Also it is possible the mammo or biopsy caused some pain

My little 8mm breast lump created a shooting pain from it to my armpit. Yes, they can cause pain.
