Fat grafting donor sites are uneven, is this common?

Hello ladies,

I had fat grafting done about 4 weeks ago. The donor sites my surgeon used were the flank area, on the sides of my waist. I have noticed that the donor sites are uneven. The left side kind of juts out and the right side is much flatter and more even.

I asked my surgeon about it at my 3 week follow up, and he didn't think it was anything to worry about. I asked him if he took the same amount of fat from both sides and he said yes.

But the left side really looks noticeably different, like barely any fat was taken from that side, and much more was taken from the right side.

I am really hoping this will even itself out eventually. Has this happened to anyone else? How long did it take before both sides evened out? Or did they stay uneven forever?

I have had 3 surgeries in the last 5 months, so not looking to do any more anytime soon. But do you think it would take an additional fg procedure for both sides to look noticeably even?

Just wondering for the future if I ever decide to do this again. I look forward to hearing from any of you with similar experiences! Thank you!
