My preliminary results from the biopsy done 3 days ago of my 8mm spiculated mass at 12:00 on my right breast are in. Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia. My internist who shared the results said a lumpectomy will follow. I meet with a breast surgeaon at Smilow in 10 days. By then I will have receptor info and can go on "preventative" medicine possibly. I wonder if anyone had a similar diagnosis? I also wonder if anyone had this diagnosis on the breast biopsy and a different diagnosis when the lumpectomy was done. And, speaking of lumpectomy, what should I expect/know? What else may be forthcoming? Thanks to all my new friends for your responses.

Kaso, I believe there is an upgrade in diagnosis about 20% of the time with excision.

If nothing more serious is found then I believe receptor staus is irrelevant to taking preventive meds.
