Two questions only you all could answer, I'm sure

I'm waiting on the 4th biopsy results that I believe will be in tomorrow. I would like to ask some questions though if you all don't mind.

* did you have several biopsies over a period of time that turned out OK before you had a positive biopsy?

* I've had 3 biopsies within the past month that turned out just fine. I'm now waiting on the 4th. Someone told me that since the other 3 were good results, it's more than likely the 4th will be OK, too. Has anyone ever heard anything like this?

I hope some of the veterans will be able to answer you better, I've just had one biopsy and am going to get my results today. That said, most of the people I know had cáncer found when they had their biopsies, or something very suspicious, that led to more testing or directly to treatment.

Have they explained why they continue to do biopsies? Are they in different áreas, for example?

When I was diagnosed I had one biopsy in the lump, and one on a lymph node...they did do a second biopsy on my lymph node because they thought it "looked funky" LOL it came back negative a second time....and during surgery all my lymph nodes were neg.

    good luck!

suzieQ, I don't think that the number of biopsies you've had that were negative would affect the outcome of the latest, more important IMO would be the reason that they keep doing repeat biopsies. Is there discordance between the images and the pathology? or do they think they missed the 'area of concern' on the first? (I get that, but missed it 3 times?) The vast majority of biopsies (something like 70-80%) are b9, so I'd hang on to that statistic while you wait. Waiting sucks. Good luck!

I agree with MT. Why would they do four biopsies in one month? Doesn't make sense at all. Have you been previously diagnosed with breast cancer? What is your age? Are you going to a major medical center or teaching hospital? More questions than answers, but I think you need to ask.

i would like to say that I agree with Minustwo...if you are not being treated at a major university teaching hospital I would at least get a second opinion at one. Good luck and please keep us posted.
