Hello Ladies,

Thank God for this group!! I'm 35 and have never had any breadth issues or family history. I've had silicone implants for about 12 years and never had a issue until about a month ago when I found a lump. Didn't think anything of it at the time because I just briefly felt it. Fast forward to today's appointment where I now can feel it daily and have had nipple changes as well to the left breast. Upon seeing my doctor today, I was hopeful I'd walk in and have him tell me it was just a cyst and should go away by itself. Instead he danced around the subject and set me up for an immediate Diagnostic unilateral digital mammogram and ultrasound. He said he wanted to "rule out all the bad stuff" which I totally get, but when the nurse mentioned the first available was the 19th he asked her to check to see for a sooner date. I understand doctors don't really want to speculate before they have results but my gut tells me they have a pretty good idea...Anyone else have similar experience? How do you process this all now while waiting two weeks to get in?

Would love to hear your story

I would call around to different imaging places to try and get in sooner. Two weeks is a lot of time to stress and worry for a mammogram. The you wat more if the radiologist is concerned because you need to schedule a biopsy. Then you will wait for results. At this rate it could be 2 months before you have an answer. Call around and get in somewhere sooner.

For me: Gyno visit January 25th, Mammogram January 26th(I called as I walked out of my Gyno visit) biopsy January 30th, diagnosis Feb 3rd. 9 days! I was a wreck and then it got worse for a few days but then I braced, made plans and aggressively moved forward. I had surgery in Feb and just finished Chemo last Wednesday. Radiation starts in a few weeks.

His concern doesn't mean this is cancer, it means he's concerned, he wants you to have a quick appt because the worry is intense and you need to know one way or the other as quick as possible. The chance of a dr NOT checking out a lump, even one they think is a cyst, would be pretty slim IMO. I'd guess any change in the breast is going to force them to send you out for tests

I agree with Mquara, try to get on the cancellation list or call around to a different imaging center. It doesn't mean bc, but it gives you answers sooner. In the meantime, here is something that might put things in perspective:

You are still very early in the process. Try not to go too far down the "what if" road. Good luck!
