    Hey everyone, I'm new here. Was diagnosed with idc on April 27th from core biopsy. Had lumpectomy on May 9th and my pathology results are: invasive ductal carcinoma size 14mm with dcis present with clear margins. Both are grade 3 and my primary tumour is PT1C, i don't know my hormone receptor status yet. The part that really worries me(other then the grade 3) is that is says focal lymph vascular invasion is present. Can anyone tell me anything about this?

    Here's how my BS explained it to me: "I had a wonky spot on the wall of my tumor that might have caused me some trouble a year or so down the road." Thanks, I'm back in second grade again. When I questioned her about it at later visits she said it wasn't a problem yet because my lymph node was negative so it hadn't built the path to the lymph node yet. Then I asked her about the vascular (blood) part and she just sort of shrugged, like well, yes it could have gotten into my blood.

    From all of my reading it just seems like any further systemic treatment you do is enough to account for the LVI. Since chemo wasn't recommended for me I just make sure to take my letrozole every day.

    There are ladies on this board who had "extensive LVI" in their signature lines and they seem to be doing just fine. It's just something to know about your diagnosis but not something to worry about
