My favorite drain holder

I am a little over a week post-op and have tried various things to hold my drains. My PS had given me a tool belt looking thing some volunteer had made and although it had nice big pockets, the material was really rough and the big buckle was in the back, making it impossible to wear to sleep in since I have to sleep on my back! I also got the post-op camisoles and tried them for a couple of days, but the band where the pouches velcro on irritated my skin and it was difficult getting the bulbs in and out of the pouches some times. I also didn't like how it looked under clothes - it made me look pregnant having all the drains in the position. It was also hot, since this is summer weather. I also tried pinning the drains to my clothes which didn't work well at all since it pulled on them every time I moved.

Before I had surgery, I didn't know I would be given the other options, so I bought a 1/4 yd of really soft, lightweight stretchy knit fabric. As light and soft as I could find. I folded it twice along the short side and cut the length to fit around my waist plus a couple of inches for overlap. I sewed the ends to hold the folds and keep it from fraying. I wrap it around my waist and secure with a couple of safety pins. This forms a really soft belt that I can stick the drain bulbs and excess tubing into the folds nicely. I can even pull some of the fabric up to fold over the top to hold everything in place. I hardly can tell I have it on - and it looks a lot smoother under my clothes than anything else. Just thought I would share.

I think you could do the same thing with a lightweight scarf.
