I'm taking tamoxifen and soon after beginning I started having severe muscle cramps ( Charley horse) in my legs

I'm trying to figure out if the tamoxifen is the cause Has anyone else experienced this side effect ?

Yes, yes and yes! The thing that really does help me is to increase my intake of magnesium and replacing body salts by taking Hydralite. As long as I take this combination daily I don't have a problem. I don't take Tamoxifen but an AI but they have the same side effect.

    Good luck!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

I started having muscle cramping in my calf within 3 weeks of starting on Tamoxifen. I find that getting up and moving around helps to ease the leg cramps.

yes! I get terrible charley horses on tamoxifen too. What works for me is to eat a banana every day, or take extra potassium if I can't.

Gotta share this one- closest thing to a miracle!

I've had occasional cramps in my calves for yesrs Used the usual remedies: walking around, massaging the muscle, standing up and down on tiptoes, etc. Lately I've been getting them in my shins and my feet. I think that all that hopping around served to distract me, butI don't think it actually shortened the time. Then when the cramp was gone, the muscles would continue to hurt well i to the next day.I tecently saw the headline to an article about rubbing with Epsom salts but I didn'I to

Make sure you're properly hydrated, your electrolytes are in balance and especially at bedtime take magnesium. And it may be an old wives' tale, but a bar of soap at the foot of the mattress seems to stave off those excruciating nocturnal foot and toe cramps that often plagued me.
