Waiting...so hard!!
Hello All:
Sunday, May 7th I woke up to find a very red and swollen breast. Prior to that I don't remember how long before maybe a week I had a very itchy area under my breast which looked and felt like a fungal rash. I do remember scratching it and maybe broke the skin and didn't know it. Csng think of anything else that could've caused a rash like thst!! Went to my doctor Monday afternoon he said he thought it was mastitis gave me bactrim for 7 days. Three days later I went in for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The radioligist said there was some thickening and wanted me to come back 14 days later. I went yesterday and the radiologist repeated 3 mammogram pics and said the majority of the thickening cleared up, but thst there was still some there. I now have an appt with a breast surgeon in a week, June 1st. I'm so scared that it could be IBC. Can anyone offer me some info of experience in relation to my situation?? Thank you so much!!

Of course, anything is possible -however - IBC is very unlikely! Only between 1 to 5 of all DIAGNOSED with a form of BC (DCIS, IDC, ILC, IBC) will be IBC. It rapidly presentation (hours/day) and is aggressive in progression. There are many possibilities as to what is going on - especially as the Rad Dr said 'thickening' was less. IBC does not get 'better' once it presents. For me, it was 7 days from lymph node presenting literally overnight til DX and another 17 days til starting neoadjuvant Chemo (total of 24 days). NEVER had any 'redness'.
There are so many possible I times as to what is going on with you at this time. (Perhaps a Dermatologist for your skin issues. There are a multitude of ppssibilities with skin issues.
Whatever your issue is - the sooner you get the appropriate TX, the better!
Stay away from " Dr Quack Google"!
