Central Main Duct Severely Constricted???

Hello

On May 11th I had a right breast ductogram (really dark red blood X 1 month). The bleeding is not spontaneous. It can be easily expressed with very little touch or pressure. The Radiologist was able to express it at around the 2pm area. The dye stopped about 8mm down. So she couldn't see past that area. She said the duct actually looked good, but it was being blocked by something. No visual papilloma. Today I went to have a terminal duct excision. But, this is where I'm confused. The surgeon spoke to my husband (if she spoke to me I don't remember ) and told him that the central main duct was severely constricted so she pulled back the nipple and removed it tying everything off at the bottom. Does that mean she removed all the ducts and not just the one that was blocked?

Also, what would cause it to be so constricted. I'm not breastfeeding and I'm not menopausal. I don't have any pain, swelling, tenderness, redness, or masses. Only symptom was that discharge that I've never ever seen before! Everything I've been reading talks about ducts being dilated as with ductal ectasia. Could this still be that?

If anyone could please help me clarify this that would be greatly appreciated! My follow up isn't until next Thursday!

Thank you!!!

Have you been diagnosed with cancer or has it been mentioned by the surgeon? I think most of the women here have cancer and are used to dealing with that so you might not get many responses dealing with other breast issues.

Hope the doctor can clarify for you and answer those questions. You can also ask them for the reports from surgery but make sure you get your questions answered. Good luck.

Starting a new Thread and deleteing it almost immediately makes it hard for anyone who goes to that Thread to understand the replies you got as nothing shows what they were replying to.
