Anyone had ovaries removed that is TNBC and BRCA-

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone out there is TNBC, BRCA- and had ovaries removed or has regular ovarian ultrasounds? I was dx'd at 40 with TNBC and am BRCA-. I have been in chemo induced menopause since August 2016, last chemo treatment was Jan 2017. I've heard breast cancer is a "sister" cancer to ovarian cancer...but don't know as this is true for TNBC survivors. My Gyn asked last year if I was going to have my ovaries removed and I hadn't really thought about it since my cancer isn't hormone driven. My MO never mentioned it or regular ultrasounds. U read an interview with Robin Roberts, also a TNBC'er and she stated she has regular ovarian ultrasounds. Thoughts Anyone?

I understood that ovarian cancer and breast cancer relationship is BRCA related, so BRCA negative & triple negative? I'd discuss it with my MO. Your Gyn is not the expert here

I removed my ovaries after my treatment of triple-negative breast cancer. I have Brca1 which causes a high risk of ovarian cancer. I ended up in menopause but did not experience any big problems. Today I feel great.

I had 14 tumors in my breast and 3 infected lymph nodes in the armpit and one under the clavicle. I went through chemotherapy, double masectomy and radiation. This i four years ago and i am still cancerfree.

Yodel, I am triple negative and BRCA negative and I did not have my ovaries removed, nor do I get any kind of ovarian screening
