SAVI therapy for stage 0 DCIS

I had a lumpectomy thee weeks ago and considering SAVI as an option given by Oncologist. However I yet to find anyone with a small tumor like mine 3mm low grade ER 3+ PgR 3+ who has opted for SAVI. Anyone here can share ? I am on the fence about this.

I had brachytherapy (a more generic name for the sort of radiation therapy you're considering), but mine was with the Mammosite catheter, instead of the SAVI catheter. You might also try searching for "Mammosite," "Contura," and "brachytherapy" on this board.

Some of us were very happy with our choices (I was), others, not so much. There's a main site article on brachytherapy "here" and a very general overview of the various types of radiation therapy from the American Cancer Society "here."

***There's a very comprehensive description of the various types of radiation therapy from UCLA "here," which includes pictures & drawings, and should be helpful in having discussions with your RO about what sort of radiation will be the best choice for you.***

I should note that based on the machines available at your facility, some types of radiation might not be available to you. But that's something to discuss with your RO.

My very best wishes for you!

Thank you so much for the helpful reply. I decided to do this and today is my second day. Device was placed on Monday. It is uncomfortable but here I am and I am grateful I have this option. Will keep you posted.
