I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago just not feeling well, kind of dizzy. He did blood work, then after he got the results I got a script for a mammogram in the mail. I thought it was routine and wasn't going to go, but having good medical right now that's ending soon I thought why not? Today they tell me I have a microcalsification cluster. I'm going for a biopsy tomorrow. I had a breast exam at the doctors just a month it so ago, and I go every year! I had a mammogram 5 years ago that showed nothing. The doctor that told me I have this didn't seem positive. Told me if it was macro I'd have 70% chance of this being benign but he says this looks more concerning. What I read though says There is still a chance this could be benign. Isn't that right?

I forgot to mention I started Mirena last year for heavy bleeding. I'm wondering if this could be related.

My mammo and US also indicated micro calcifications. After my biopsy, I was Dx'd with DCIS, high grade. I opted for a double mastectomy with reconstruction, and I can honestly say it was the best decision I've ever made. No regrets. Easy recovery, for me. But I realize everyone is different.

Now, from what I've read, calcifications CAN be normal; completely B9. 70% sounds accurate to me. But Remember, don't get hung up on what they're saying right now. Truly only a biopsy will know what's lurking. Wishing you all the best.

thank u!! I'm so glad I'm getting in tomorrow at 8am!! And this lab says I should have the results in one to two days. Waiting is hard. Sad for people who have to wait longer. I forgot to mention I started Mirena last year for heavy bleeding. I'm wondering if this could be related.

I have the mirena as well. It's been approximately 4 years now since I got it. I wondered the same thing, to be honest. I already have a call into my GYN to have it removed. I figure, get rid of the estrogen! But you just never know. It's damn if you do, damn if you don't. Sending positive vibe and a bit of sparkly pixie dustbin your way.
