What a wild ride! We found a lump and a clinic doctor said it was most likely a cyst because I don't qualify for breast cancer because I breastfed for 11 years straight, I'm a surfer and dancer, I eat right, no family history, etc. From those reassuring remarks to surgery was about 6 weeks. And then the pathology report was just handed to me by the surgeon a week after surgery with no explanation. The surgeon was so pleased! He got it all! Clear margins! Nothing in the 4 lymph nodes! That sounded like we were done! While I've been waiting for a call from the Cancer Agency, I've been researching online. I'm relieved to find this site and I realize I have a steep learning curve ahead of me. I see that I'm not done. There could be herceptin, chemo, radiation and hormone blockers in my near future. I don't understand. It's all gone. It was small and early stage but it looks like I'm in for the full meal deal. I have plans to play outside for most of the upcoming summer .I live on my own and travel and spend weekends with my boyfriend who's offered to accompany me to appointments. I'm scared and confused and impatient and scared to know as well as scared to not know. Who else has had this combination of descriptors?
