hi, i have schizophrenia and have recently started taking medication again after stopping for a few months. The doctor pescribed me 1mg risperidone and i have taken it for about 1 month. But for the past week i have had pain in my right breast ( i am a male thats a little overweight). The issueright now is very complex. I have right breast pain specifically near the nipple area but my main concern is i have a lump there. According to my knowledge i've always had this lump underneath and near my nipple for as long as i can remember. maybe 7-8 years. i always thought it was normal just being there near the nipple. Now the problem is, i have a little bit of pain there when i touch my right nipple region where the lump is at. i went to get a ultrasound and mammogram today and will have the results back in 3-4 days to see if there is anything cancerous. Can this really be breast cancer for me as a male or could it be something else thats not serious like a cyst?

Men can get breast cancer. Travel text is one guy on this site. I would definitely get it checked out to see what it is. Also check out this forum that addresses men at risk or who have breast cancer: Good luck.

Risperdal is a drug that can cause gynecomastia...abnormal breast tissue growth in males. Hopefully your mammogram and ultrasound are clear. Best of luck

risperidone can also cause hyperprolactinemia (elevated prolactin levels). I would follow up with your mammo and us, but also let your prescribing physician know (if all is clear) as your medicine may be contributing to your symptoms. Best of luck!

how long does it take for a mammogram result to come back? I was told 3-4 days, is that normal? Im scared they have a biopsy request or another mammogram request ready..

Call you doc to see if the results are in. My doc was too busy to get back to me as soon as she got the results so I called the mammo center and the radiologist gave me the results. A doc needs to be the one to do it and he thought it was ok since he is a doc.
