hello ladies,

i have a question regarding a core needle biopsy. the 6th of april I had a biopsy( result benign fibrosis). After the biopsy I was in a lot of pain. So i used ice packs en a sportsbra for at least a week. The pain went away. last week i started feeling my breast to see how it felt. It felt fine, only a few lumps which were there before. But due to my anxiety i started poking and prodding a lot for a few days. And my breast began to hurt the same as after the biopsy. I stopped saturday with the poking, but now the spot stil hurts. Was the tissue not healed enough? After 4 weeks? or did i bruise the tissue again by poking and prodding while the tissue was still recovering?

The NP icalled said give it 2 weeks and if it still hurts she will check me out.

Does somebody know if it is possible that the tissue was still recovering after 4 weeks and i bruised it myself??

thanks a lot!!

Congrats on the B9 results. Breasts are tender, especially after being "assaulted" with a biopsy needle. :) Stop poking and prodding as you can certainly give yourself an internal bruise. The 2 weeks is a reasonable step before putting your poor breast through anything more. Hope everything starts to feel normal soon!

    hi mtwoman

Thanks voor the reply! I thought a core biopsy was not invasive? But maybe they were digging in the tissue. I will stop prodding. Certainly because the pain was gone and due to myself it came back. Stupid me...

Oh now, don't go calling yourself names! But they did take a "core", even if it was tiny. If leaving it alone lets the pain go back down again, then that will tell you something. If it doesn't, then that will tell you something else. Either way, you've collected info and have your next steps laid out (relax or return to clinic). Hoping all is better soon!
