Enlarged lymph nodes on MRI on opposite side of cancer

I could use some support right now. I am recently diagnosed with IDC and ILC that has spread to at least 1 lymph node (ultrasound and biopsy). I got the results back today from my MRI and my MD explained that the lymph nodes in my opposite armpit were enlarged despite no evidence of cancer in THAT breast. I will have an ultrasound tomorrow. I know that if the cancer has spread that far this would be considered stage 4. I am terrified and hoping that I am jumping to worst case scenario. Has this happened to anyone?

    Hi Annaberry-

We want to extend a warm welcome to you, and tell you how sorry we are that you're going through this fear. We know how scary it can be. We have a forum for members who're worried about mets, and there's a topic in there by the name of Lymph Node Positive Survivors that you might find helpful: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/105/topic.... Hopefully some members there can offer some insight and support as you wait this out. We're all here for you, please keep us posted!
