hi all,

will have bmx in july with no recon. i am a floor nurse in a very busy floor with a lot of lifting heavy patients. any one here a nurse and how long did you take time off after your surgery ? thanks in advance.

kae-I'm a nurse as well. I had bmx followed 2 weeks later by direct to implant recon. I had a 5# weight restriction for 4 weeks after the recon surgery.

I ended up actually being off a total of 8 wks from the time of my first surgery. Prob could have returned sooner but had enough pto to extend my time

So... at minimum I would say 4 weeks. No way did I want to return with any open wounds either as I was so scared of an infection.
