Estrogen and vaginal atrophy

Has anyone here in the United States used an estriol formulation for vaginal atrophy after chemo? After chemo threw me into menopause, my doctor prescribed Vagifem, which is an estradiol tablet thats inserted, but I know that in some countries like Germany and Australia there is a product called Ovestin which is made with the weaker, supposedly safer estrogen, estriol. A naturopathic doctor wants me to try the estriol formula by having a compounding pharmacy mix up a cream, since Ovestin is not available in the United States. Has anyone done this here and what are your opinions?
