I had a couple of scarves that I got from the "cancer store" at the hospital. I have to dig them up and see what the name was because they were super soft. Those were my favorites.

The one time I thought I might wear my nicer wig was when a friend was getting married. I opted instead for a hat and put together a very Audrey Hepburn sort of look. Just before the wedding I had my (now ex) husband write "congratulations" with the bride and groom's names on the back of my head. They've got the pictures in their wedding album

I liked these pre-tied scarves in several types of fabric - I have a small head and could wear the child's size, and had a friend who wore a number of these too during chemo.

I had long hair pre-chemo and cut it off in a pixie but sent the ponytails to this company and had a hairpiece made that had fabric on top with my hair sewn on just above the ear. It was super comfortable, even though I had to wear a hat with it - I mostly wore cute fedoras, but also periodically a ball cap. This company can make these out of donated human or synthetic hair also if your own hair is not long enough.

I never left my house without the hairpiece I had made or the wig I purchased. My personal preference was that I look as I usually did, and if I chose for others to know that I had cancer and was undergoing chemo it was my choice to tell them. There are no wrong choices, that was just the way that worked best for me.

If you are having a taxane chemo regimen and want to preserve your hair I would recommend looking into cold caps. If you use the search bar at the left you will find threads devoted to post and info about a number of options.
