Infection. Small amount of seeping through tiny hole of suture..

I can't remember now and too lazy to look at the past posts. Has it been cultured? That would go a long way to knowing how to treat it! Best of luck!! Let us know what happens

As I have said, I am not a medical person, but I did have a severe infection in my implant...so from my experience, this infection will not go away, without removing the implant. Hoping I am wrong.

Hi Ladies,
Back from seeing ps.. I'm not infected. The fluid he sees doesn't show infection plus I have 0 symptoms of infection. It's just a little seepage from a small hole that has actually gotten smaller over the past week. I showed him the photos and he said some of it could be sweat. So he decided one last ditch effort try before the next step becomes removal of the implant for 6 months. He numbed the area and carved out the location better so he could do a nice stitch job. I'm to use neosporin and do a dressing change twice a day. He also scripted me Keflex abx prophylactically. He feels it's my radiated breast that's problematic as this thing would have closed if it was the other one. So I see him next Mon. He'll take stitches out in 2-3 weeks. It it didn't work then out it comes. So 3 weeks and I'll know for sure my outcome. He doesn't want to take it out because just opening me up can cause more issues so he's giving this last ditch before calling it.
Thanks for everyone's support and posts. Oh and I did bring up the hydrogen peroxide daily use. Can't remember who gave me the heads up, but thanks! Indeed it can kill good cells so I've stopped that. Soap and water alone it is!

Hey girls so sorry your having this issue. I have had 2 lumpectomies one on left side in 2014 and the other on right side in 2016. They both had a problem healing my bs called it weeping. He ask if I smoke I told him no. It's been 7 years since I quit. He said due to many years of smoking could be why I was healing slow due to currculation. I really don't think he knows why some wounds do this and others don't. Mine was not an infection. It finally healed up but it took about 6 to 8 weeks. I u. Mmm

I'm sorry to posted in reconstruction. I didn't realize the heading. Just saw the problems with wounds and reacted. Would not want to disrespect anyone.
-
Susug, you certainly didn't disrespect anyone! Were all navigating the same waters more or less.
Arista, sure hope this works!! Seems we are constantly waiting for something. Keep us posted. As for me, my hole is still closed. Breast looks and feels good. Hoping for the best. Every little pain sends me into panic mode!
-
No disrespect at all Susug. I learned from your post it can take 6-8 weeks for the hole to close, so this gives me hope.
Bluebirdgirl- Me too! It feels weird because my sutures are under the breast. Some ps do breast recon with a horizontal incision across the middle of the breast tissues. Thankfully mine didn't and so you can't see it. But it does hurt some now that the anesthetic is worn off and feels weird. And got to watch twisting, bending down too much, stretching and taking deep breaths. What fun. I think it's always going to be a wait and see. There is no guarantee this won't happen again even if it closes completely on it's. Actually, bc is a wait and see for the rest of our lives. There is no cure for cancer and I really don't think there ever will be. It's way to complicated/complex and nothing makes sense or has a definitive pattern as to why this happens to some and not others. Glad your problem is resolved and I pray it stays that way for you.

On Mon it'll be 3 weeks since I got stitches. Will get them out on Wed and hope it worked.. PS is out next week so PA will do it and I'll see him the following week for the final verdict. Hopefully he'll say I can schedule my right implant adjustment to be even with the left side at that time for a month out. It's very noticeable under clothes how the right hangs lower than the left.

Saw ps today. All looks good. Infection was long gone so it was a matter of how to deal with the leakage. So glad ps didn't jump on pulling implant out. Gave max time for leak to close on it's own. When that failed, stitched it up and gave max time on it to heal as last resort. Thankfully it worked. Having gone through infection and then leak pushed my right one rev/lift out by 2 mo so that sucks but he's extra cautious about stuff like this.

Glad you are better!! My infection is gone as well. Hope you have smooth sailing from hereon out!
-
To you too as well Bluebirdgirl! Best wishes!
