Hello I am just a little confused and irritated, I was DX in august and ended chemo is Dec 2016 and had my double MX in January 2017, I saw my oncologist in march and had no scans or blood work done, she said everything seems fine and now i don't see her for a checkup until September 2017, is this a normal thing? it makes me nervous because of my previous history with cancer and the fact that i had a grade 3/ triple neg. has anyone else been told they are fine to wait such a long time to come back after just finishing treatment? do you have scans? or am i being too overly paranoid? thank you!

Yes I think this is typical. I won't see my oncologist again until January, but will see the surgeon before that. They told me it's standard, but of course call them if I have any issues. I would feel more comfortable knowing I had an earlier appointment, but that's because I hate calling with questions. I'd rather just save them all up for when I can see someone in person.

Yes, this is how it rolls, per my Oncologist. I still have the left breast, so there's a 6 month mammogram, then yearly check on that. It was explained to me that there is nothing gained in testing for a cancer marker without a symptom presenting itself.

    Sourlemon,

Since you aren't doing hormonal therapy (due to ER-/PR-), and you had a double MX, you will see the oncologist less frequently than some of us. I go to my oncologist's office every month because I'm doing ovulation suppression so I can take an aromatase inhibitor. It depends on the person and their particular kind of cancer sometimes.

I know how you feel I was triple negative grade 3 also and was told I had to do 16 chemo treatments and then a double mastectomy. I felt the same way you do, if this is so aggressive and high risk why are we not doing CT scans, and more testing. They told me the same thing, unless you are showing symptoms, no tests. I was diagnosed in 2015, and I did go back every 3 months in 2016. You know your body better than anyone so just watch for any unusual symptoms.
