Waiting for excisional biopsy lumpectomy

had a core biopsy on a .5cm lesion and it came back ADH. I understand that it is typical to follow that with an excision al biopsy"lumpectomy. The surgeons next available appointment for a surgery is 2 months away..should I look for another surgeon? She insists there is no urgency..but if seems like if they are concerned enough to need to do this, it might be important not to wait.

Hi Marymac. Only about 20% of excisional biopsies for ADH show an upgrade to DCIS or invasive cancer. Also, women who have already been diagnosed with cancer often wait about that long while waiting on other testing before their surgeries. I think your surgeon is being honest that it is fine. I think it was about six weeks after my stereotactic until my surgical biopsy

Marymac, I had my initial cytology in mid December and then lx in late December, and then a follow up mri that detected 2 more areas of DCIS in January. I didn't have my mx to get all of it out until February. So essentially, I waited 2 months for my final excision as well. It should be fine.
