Fibrocystic breasts..
i have anxiety when it comes to my breast and am over diligent w every change. I recently had ultrasound and everything was normal. (Besides a tiny cyst)
I mentioned to the sonographer that i have anxiety when it comes to feeling my breasts, so she told me that i do have lumpy breasts. I had many ultrasounds done previously and they never mentioned fibrocystic breasts. This past ultrasound mentioned "measures normal fibrous tissues.. on the report.
So im confused. Does it mean i have fibrocystic breasts? It was never mentioned on any of the scans besides this one and i assume its bec i told the sonographer my heightened anxiety.
If one has fibrocystic breasts, is it always mentioned in a ultrasound results, or just considered normal so they don't bother writing it.
As well, i googled fibrocystic breasts bec im concerned it can be heightened risk of developing bc, and got such confusing info. Some sites clearly say there is no increased risk. Some however say there is a slight increase..
Can anyone enlighten me, as this is really concerning me..

yummymommy - first of all, don't consult "dr" google. There is way too much outdated & mis-information.
Second - the only thing to do is make an appointment with your OB/GYN or your PCP, who see breasts all the time. They will be able to put your mind at rest or order more testing. No, it is not always mentioned in ULS test results. The main thing is you have a NORMAL report. I would ask your PCP to give you something for the anxiety, since that's not a comfortable way to live.

Oh - I just went back and read some of your other threads & previous posts. Your tests have always been NORMAL. You do not have a breast condition. You really do need to see about getting anxiety meds instead of fixating on breast cancer. It's hard on the women who actually may have a problem to read about your unwarranted fears and silly for the rest of us to keep providing the same answers over & over.

Its best to consult specialist, also take something for the anxiety. Fibrocystic doesn't mean breast cancer. Don't look into google its has misleading information...

First of all, yummymommy is a neat name, well done
I have fibrocystic breasts. When I was young, they used to remove fibroid masses, if they could not drain them. Mine could not be drained, so I had three surgeries from the age of 19 to 25. They don't do this now, thank goodness.
Back then, they called it a Fibrocystic disease, which they smartened up and changed. It's a 'condition' not a disease, and yes, many women have it and have very healthy breasts. My girls are particularly dense. Actually, my doctor told me I was a disaster, and she just sent me for mammograms with ultra-sounds rather than try to get through my 'ropy' mess.
I developed breast cancer 2 years ago, at 45. It had absolutely nothing to do with my fibrocystic breasts. It was lobular, which is primarily hormonal. Whether or not I was lumpy, ropy and a disaster or perfectly normal, had no relation to the cancer.
It is understandable that you have worries, it can be a scary thing to think that you could have an illness. That being said, it sounds like you are receiving excellent care, getting regular ultra-sounds, and staying on top of it. You are doing everything right, my dear.
Know your body, if you feel something is off, get it checked. I did, and had I not gone to my doctor with concerns of pain (and with fibrocystic breasts all of my life, I have had pain!) but this was different. I was also unusually tired, coming home on lunch breaks from work to have a nap. I requested my thyroid be checked, and requested a mammogram and ultra-sound. I caught it in the early stages. Two years, cancer free
I have one and 3/4 of my fibrocystic breasts left...they're still disasters lol. I can live with that.
Get your annual tests, and rest easy when the doctor says 'normal'. I wish you a very happy, healthy future
