Complex Cyst

Can a complex cyst disappear and reappear in the same spot years later? I had a mass that doctor felt and went for mammo/US. When there they said they found nothing - no mass or cyst - just come debris. I did feel a sharp pain during mammo - could it have possibly burst? Now several years later there is a mass in that spot again. Could the cyst have reappeared? Is that common? I am trying to get an appointment.
