Hi looking for advise please, I had 3-4cm of DCIS and Paget's disease removed in October and second operation needed for clear margins, I had 20 sessions of radiation in January. I saw the oncologist who stated I didn't ever have cancer and I could take Tamixofen if I wanted I asked her advise but she just gave me % and a leaflet about it, I gave myself a month off then I started Tamixofen on 1st March I was dreading it but I got on fine no side effects until this week the hot flashes are all day long haven't had them at night yet thank god im seriously thinking of stopping it is anybody else with Dcis only who does or doesn't take Tamixofen? I absolutely don't want to have a reoccurrence EVER but these are really bad I'm thinking of getting the magnets you use in your underwear to see, also the pharmacist gave me a different one this month maybe the brand doesn't suit any advise gratefully appreciated thanks

Lorri70, am I correct in assuming when you say "DCIS A" that you are referring to Luminal A (ER+)? If so, then it is typical here in the US for Tamoxifen or an AI to be discussed/recommended. I met with an MO after my surgery, and since I was triple negative, he said it wouldn't provide me with any extra benefit. He did offer to prescribe it for me if I needed to "do something". He meant this in a kind way, as it is hard sometimes for women to just have surgery and walk away doing no other form of treatment. I did not want to take on side effects (I was 38) with no benefits, so I said "no, thank you". I'm sure others will be along shortly with different situations and opinions. Good luck!

ah, okay. We do frequently use Tamox or an AI for ER+ DCIS in the US. Sorry I don't have any personal experience so can't weigh in there.

    Hi Lorri70:

Some people have noticed differences between the same drug from different manufacturers (brand, various generic manufacturers). This is thought to be due to differences in the inactive ingredients. If the onset of side effects coincided with a switch to a different generic provider, you may wish to go back to the first one you used and see if things improve.
