Biopsy done...now waiting for the call.
Hi all -
Had my MRI/Biopsy done this morning. Didn't get much sleep last night, had to be to the hospital really early. The combination of not wanting to oversleep and not being able to shut my brain off, didn't allow for much rest. The biopsy itself was actually really easy. I really had no pain, just a slight sting from the lidocaine, but wasn't bad at all.
I tried to drill the radiologist afterwards with what she thought of it. The area of concern is a clumped, non-mass enhancement. 3.3x 0.9x 0.8 cm. Segmental distribution, Birads 4. She basically said there are a number of conditions that can cause this to show up and we won't know for sure until the results come in. She said they were aggressive with this because of my family history. She said that she didn't think "Omg" when she looked at my scan, but felt it should for sure be looked into. I asked if this was caught early if it is C, and she said yes...it appears that way, but again, won't know for sure until the biopsy comes back. Ugh!
I flip back and forth with being positive and ok with whatever the outcome, to being completely freaked out, heart racing and combing the internet for situations similar to mine to compare. If it is bad news, I keep telling myself that it appears that surgery will take care of this and if that's all I have to do to get rid of it, I should consider myself lucky.
They'll be calling sometime tomorrow. I don't even want to answer the phone.

Glad you don't have to wait for definitive answers any longer than tomorrow. Do try to get some sleep tonight, as best you can. And don't forget to breathe! Hoping for B9 results

Hi Sarah!
Answer the phone! Your odds for benign results are pretty good. 80% of people whose imaging was characterized as Birad 4 and who then have a biopsy (your category) get benign results. There's no reason to think you'll be in the 20%.
Come back and tell us what they say...here's hoping that you're with the 80% majority!

Thank you! Hope you guys are right and praying for a B9 result. My mom passed from BC and it was humbling to walk a few blocks in her shoes today.
I'll for sure report back tomorrow. If I answer the phone...

I posted more detail on my original post, but I did answer the phone today...
The nurse said "Good news" almost immediately. I nearly passed out. I think I was holding my breath with anticipation.
She said it was benign and what was found was fibrocystic breast changes and Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia (PASH).
Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply to my post. You're all so kind. I hate that this disease exists and that anyone has to go through waiting and wondering or worse. This has been a terrifying and humbling experience and I wish everyone here the best of luck with testing and/or treatment.
