Opting not to take hormonal therapy...

Options

hi all,

I have completed 8 rounds of chemo, I had 32 pounds of radiation(10 left) and now my dr is prescribing or suggesting Tamoxifen. I have heard nothing but horrible things about this pill. And I was told that my cancer responded very well to my treatments so I don't want to take tamoxifen. I feel great now, I feel like my old self again, my cycle started back this week.I'm no longer experiencing the women problems. So I don't want to take a pill that will cause me to feel awful again. My dr even said if you don't like it just stop... So why should I even start it if I can stop so easily. Hope this makes sense.. Just want to get back to my life. Help... Thanks in advance,

Lil lady...

Since you had Stage 3 Breast Cancer, and it was probably hormonally related as per your doctor's suggestion of Tamoxifen, you might at least try it. Just as many women say good things about Tamoxifen, but they are busy living their lives and not drug bashing. Listen to your physician, they know you best. Just because you read something on here, does not make it fact. That is why the owners of this website put the note regarding experiences at the top of every, single hormonal page. Women are only supposed to provide their experience and not influence you in one way or another. Let's just say, alot of lines are being crossed by people wanting to toss out numerical data that they are not qualified to discuss or explain. Talk with your doctor and pharmacist (I am from a pharmacy background) to get appropriate information. Be careful what you read on the internet as alot of is urban legend and rumor.
