I really thought I was done with this whole DCIS thing. Yesterday, I had a six month follow up MRI and mammogram. The mammogram was right side only to look at some calcifications that showed up a year ago during a preradiation mammogram. Yesterday's mammogram was clean. Unfortunately the MRI was not. I am looking for any similar stories from all of you - and what your biopsy outcome was.

The right breast showed two areas of enhancement: one linear and one nodular. The left breast showed a new ring-enhanced lesion.

I am scheduled for an ultrasound of the left breast next week, and a MR guided biopsy of the right two areas the same day.

I know MRI's have a higher false positive rate, and they have my previous MRI's to compare to.

I am just dumfounded to be back in the same situation when I was first diagnosed with DCIS in 2015.

Have any of you been in this situation?

Thank you!

Caber, sorry to hear you may have to re-board this crazy ship.

First, it could all turn out to be nothing. Let's hope so.

If not, I've kinda been there done that. Had a few biopsies and lumpectomies over many years (worst diagnosis was DCIS, never an invasive cancer).

Finally, this year I decided on BMX with prepectoral immediate reconstruction. If this ends up being your worst case scenario, I'm here to comfort you that it's not such a bad thing, and it does put an end to the annual worrying, scanning, procedures, and endless waiting for results and appointments. I'm confident that I have permanently de-boarded the crazy train. And I do now have a nicely matched set of boobs that look way better than the very scarred and deformed boobs that resulted from all those past procedures.

So, let's hope it's nothing! But if not, you have options and the options do have their own bright side (possible finality).

    Good luck.
