Metformin Use Linked to Increased Dementia, Parkinson's Risk in Patients With Diabetes

This stood out to me because I know many of you are taking metformin. I don't take it so I didn't have time to read the whole article, but at a glance I don't think anyone without diabetes was included in the study. Still it makes you wonder if there might be a risk to everyone.

I took Benadryl for sleep every night for 10 years when they came out with research that regular use might increase risk of dementia. Sometimes doctors treat us like we are crazy for questioning the safety of a new drug, but based on the fact that these tried and true drugs are often found to have unexpected risks, many years after people have been trusting and taking them, I don't think it's so unreasonable. I take my tamoxifen because the benefits outweigh the risks, but I avoid all other medication whenever I can.

I still wonder if the reason there are so many confounding outcomes is because of our genetics.
