Hello! I had what is now confirmed as a papilloma. She explored the area, took the papilloma, the central duct and another sample of something near by. My understanding was not to lift anything over 10 lbs for 2 weeks, take it easy and it would be a piece of cake. Well. the bruising was extreme, pooling at the bottom of my breast, spreading out to my armpit and over to my midline. Very uncomfortable so I really tried to scale back what I do, which is very very hard. It was getting better so I swept the floor and mopped. I don't know if it was that for carrying a thing or two but the bruising is worse, it's uncomfortable and there is even some peeling of my skin near but not on the incision. Has anyone else experienced this? Do I just really need to lay in bed to let this heal? It's so hard being out of my routine and I didn't expect it. Right now it hurts and I'm not doing anything.

When is your post op appointment? I would call the surgeons office and let them know, due to the "peeling back" as you describe it, maybe the incision isn't healing well? My surgeon said specifically to avoid repetetive motions "like laundry and vacuuming" for a few days.

Meanwhile a comfortable sports bra helps a lot to keep the breast tissue in place and help with both comfort and healing.

My follow up isn't until the 5th. I'm going to try and keep it dry. I've already swept and vacuumed today, just couldn't take it. I'm over a week out, but maybe those movements are causing a problem. I'm living in a sports bra. Now I've got the heating pad back on it.

Hi Hawkeyes: Did your doctor tell you to use heat? I ask because when I had some post surgery bruising, I was told to use ice or frozen peas. You might want to check that out. Ann

Yes, after 4 days she had me switch to heat. I did ice at first.
